Description

verso labeled in typeset: SCB300008 The most realistic mock air attack ever staged in Germany was launched in Berlin under the direction of General Hermann Goering, the German Air Minister. Throughout the day, first-aid squads and firemen were at work in the streets, and after dusk no light was permitted to show anywhere - except for the brilliant moon, which did not seem to realize the importance of the occasion. Above, left; gas-masked firemen are directing hoses on a building "set afire" by a bomb; right: policemen are donning gas masks during the attack.
