Description

verso labeled in typeset: The long awaited plebiscite in the Saar which will determine the status of that rich mining territory, takes place Sunday. At the upper left, British troops, part of the international army in the Saar to keep order during the voting, make friends with residents. Demonstrations and rallies of Nazis and anti-Nazis have preceded the election. Carrying the swastika and their own organization banners, girl members of a Saar athletic society march at one of the pro-Hitler meetings. Despite the hubbub over the election, business goes on as usual. A housewife, unperturbed by politics, is shown in the public market getting the main dish for her family's Sunday dinner.
