Neutral shippers are cleared through the German ports of inspection for contraband cargoes, immediately, taking no longer than the time required to clear customs before the war, with the result that the inspection is a matter of a day or two, in contrast to Britains system of inspecting neutrals for contraband which holds ships in port for weeks on end, despite the protests of neutrals through diplomatic channels.
